Senegal stopped Kalidou Koulibaly has grown into one of the best centre-backs on the planet since moving to Napoli back in 2014. Despite the dominance of Juventus in Serie A over the several seasons – seriously, The Old Lady have won the last eight Serie A titles – Koulibaly has been a pivotal piece in a massively entertaining part of Napoli’s history.

After being on the end of some shocking racist abuse this past season, though, it looks like Koulibaly could finally be ready to call time on his stint in Naples. If available, this is the sort of signing that the Manchester United money men should be breaking the bank to bring to Old Trafford.

At a physically imposing 6’5” and with an impressive turn of pace, Koulibaly is the sort of defender who would be the perfect foil for the composed, ball-playing style of Victor Lindelof. A natural leader on the pitch, Koulibaly isn’t afraid to bark orders at those in front of him. At 28 years of age, this is the sort of experienced big-money statement signing that United need to make in order to make the footballing world once again sit up and take notice.
