Man Utd Transfers: 5 Deals That Definitely Won’t Happen

3. Frank Lampard

Lampard2 Frank Lampard is in the same boat as teammate Ashley Cole and has also been told he is no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge when his contract expires in the summer. Along with Cole, he too has been linked with what really would be a surprising move to Man United, and admittedly, the midfielder does still have a lot to give at the top levels of the game. His seven goals in seventeen appearances for Chelsea this season suggests Roman Abramovic might be acting a tad prematurely in pushing the veteran midfielder towards the Stamford Bridge exit door, and only last May he inspired - and captained the club - to their first ever Champions League triumph. You might say that at 34, he is four years younger than Paul Scholes, and five years younger than Ryan Giggs, who are both still knocking around at Old Trafford. However, having spent over a decade at Chelsea, Lampard has far too much loyalty to join a Premier League title rival, and he is probably much more likely to join his uncle Harry Redknapp at QPR.
