Man Utd vs Bayer Leverkusen - Why The Germans Will Provide Stiff Competition For United

Mufcbayer Manchester United host Bayer Leverkusen in their first Champions League game of the new campaign. While the Premier League champions are undoubtedly favourites for victory tonight, Leverkusen should not be underestimated at any cost. The Bundesliga outfit, manager by former long-serving Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia, finished in an impressive third place in the league last season. Only champions Bayern Munich conceded less goals than Leverkusen during the 2012/13 campaign, and Munich and Dortmund were the only sides to outscore them. This season, they have gotten off to a typically strong start. Sitting in third place in the Bundesliga, with four wins from their first five games. Leverkusen have two key players who could well turn tonight's tie in the Germans' favour - winger Sidney Sam and striker Stefan Kiessling. Sam, 25, has scored four goals in five games for the German outfit - also making two assists. Kiessling, 29, has also netted four times in five games - while making three assists. Both players are in great form, and will be the duo to watch when Leverkusen come to town tonight. With Manchester United's form looking shaky, they are sure to meet their match tonight against a strong German side brimming with confidence. Bayer Leverkusen should not be underestimated.
