Match Preview

Manchester United's dramatic victory over Newcastle United on Boxing Day sent the Red Devil's seven points top of the Premier League after rivals Man City slumped to a surprise defeat to Sunderland. Quite how costly that defeat will be for Roberto Mancini's men remains to be seen, but it was a great early birthday gift for veteran manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who turns the grand old age of 71 on New years Eve. A win here for his side will cap off a successful festive fixture list and leave his side looking pretty going into 2013. West Brom's first half to the season hasn't been too bad either. If they find a way to win at Old Trafford they could leap up to third in the table depending on results elsewhere, which is fairly remarkable considering they were relegated in 2009.

Head-to-Head

Manchester United have never lost to West Brom in the Premier League (W10, D2).
