Manchester City Transfer News: Nani To Cross Manchester?

Mancini set to make a shock move for Man United winger?

Daily Star. That story suggests that Roberto Mancini is ready to ask Portugese winger Nani - who has been linked away from Old Trafford for the best part of the summer - to cross the city divide and join fellow former United player Carlos Tevez in sky blue. The 25-year-old winger, who joined United from Sporting Lisbon back in 2007 for 25 million Euros, has so far failed to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, casting doubts over his commitment to the club, and his future. That situation has alerted Mancini's City, who are said to be in the market for a wide-man after the Italian boss seemingly decided that with England winger Adam Johnson's future lies elsewhere. Sunderland, Newcastle and Liverpool will likely fight it out for his signature, while City look to bring in his replacement. With Theo Walcott also rumoured to be on Man City's wanted list City, Mancini certainly looks to be in the market for that sort of player, and Nani's skill-set and willingness to run at defenders make an excellent option as he heads into the last two years of his current contract. But Nani remains a United favourite, despite not yet agreeing to any new deal, and Sir Alex Ferguson is unlikely to give his blessing to any deal that sees one of his star players cross the city to join the newly crowned Champions. But according to the Star at least, his name has definitely come up for discussion in the blue half of the city, and City will hope that their ability to pay top dollar (without a ceiling in fact) will tempt the player to join with fellow big-spenders Paris St Germain also said to be interested.
