Manchester City Transfers: 5 Players They Must Sign

4. Lucas Digne (Everton)

After joining Everton for £18 million from Barcelona last summer, Lucas Digne went on to have a phenomenal season for The Toffees.

From left-back, the France international ended the 2018/2019 season with four goals and four assists for an Everton side that had a mixed bag of a campaign. After a poor start, Everton finally seemed to find their feet in the closing months of the season - and so often Digne was one of the main driving factors behind Everton's upturn in form.

With 24 international caps to his game, Everton manager Marco Silva will obviously be keen to keep hold of a player whose contracted with the club until 2023. But the thing is, if Manchester City really want to go after a player, that's where the club's endless financial resources can help to turn the head of a player.

Lucas Digne was the best left-back in the Premier League last season, and a key part of his game away from his technical ability is his reliability - the player start only missing three league games, which was down to suspension rather than injury.

Given that City's first choice left-back Benjamin Mendy is so, so injury prone - 17 Premier League appearances in two seasons - Guardiola would relish having such a reliable, creative, and defensively-sound player as Lucas Digne at his disposal.
