Man Utd Transfers: 6 Signings Fergie Must Push Through This Summer

3. Kevin Strootman

Club: PSV As an alternative to Marouane Fellaini, who might be too expensive for United given who many suitors he is likely to attract, PSV's Kevin Strootman would bring similar qualities, albeit without the Premier League experience of the big Belgian. Like Fellaini, the box-to-box midfielder would represent the perfect answer to what United currently miss in midfield, and which they will need even more with Paul Scholes retiring sooner rather than later. The Sun ran a story ahead of the winter window stating that the 22-year-old Holland international was attracting interest from around the world, including from AC Milan, Liverpool, and Tottenham, but that it was most likely the player would sign for United or Arsenal. He is one of the biggest prospects in Holland - hence the £17million price tag suggested by The Sun, but those reports also said that United scout Martin Ferguson and Arsenal scout Steve Rowley have both given rave reviews on the man being hailed in the Dutch Press as the €œnew Mark van Bommel€. Strong endorsement indeed, and the player will have a big future in Europe. Where that is depends entirely on what happens this summer.
