Manchester United's Greatest 23-Man Squad Of The Premier League Era
14. Patrice Evra (France, 2006-2014)
After the departure of Denis Irwin from the side in 2002, United functioned for a number of years with Mikael Silvestre as the most regular holder of the left back position. That soon changed when his French compatriot Patrice Evra arrived during the same transfer window as Nemanja Vidic.
Though Evra was slower to settle in his new role compared to his Serbian counterpart, he soon proved to be a bargain at £5.5 million, finally becoming a regular around a year after his arrival and rarely relinquishing the left back role for the next seven years, departing at the end of the 2013/14 season despite initially signing a contract extension that would've kept him around for this year's campaign.
