Manchester United's Paul Scholes Agrees To Stay One More Season

Scholes returned to the club in January 2012 and made 17 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals.

Veteran Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has signed a one-year contract extension at Old Trafford after coming out retirement in January this year. Scholes called time on his 18-year career after fearing he couldn€™t gain first team football any longer and rather than leaving to join another team he remained a one club man and decided to hang up his boots. Less than six months later, after the Red Devils were faced with injury problems and the discomfort of looking up towards Manchester City, Scholes was persuaded by Sir Alex to come out of retirement. This deal has now been extended for an additional year, with Scholes set to feature in big games for the club as well as act as a role model for the likes of Tom Cleverley and Nick Powell. Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted that his golden oldie has agreed to extend his presence at the club:
"I am delighted. He knew he had made a mistake. He now realises if he plays 25 or 30 games next season, they will be of real quality. I think this will be Paul's last season. We know him very well. We have had him since he was a kid.€
Scholes returned to the club in January 2012 and made 17 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals. He has scored 154 goals in his 697 games for United just behind Ryan Giggs and Sir Bobby Charlton.
