This is simply unfathomable. Thai prisoners are released early if they take part in special kickboxing matches against foreigners. This is due to the fact of how people from other countries are viewed in Thailand coupled with the shocking treatment of those who break their laws. If you beat someone up who isn't supposed to be in the country and taking up valuable cell space, you are seen to have done the judicial system over there somewhat of a service. Thai prisons are notoriously horrible places to be. Prisoners are forced to eat rotting food teeming with maggots, sleep next to prisoners with leprosy and survive without running water. Not nice, at all.
