Moussa Sissoko's Agent Hints He Could Quit Newcastle This Summer

News this morning that the agent of Moussa Sissoko has suggested the midfielder is considering his future at Newcastle will come as a bolt from the blue for Toon supporters. It's no secret that the Magpies will experience an exodus of first-team and fringe players this summer but we didn't anticipate Sissoko being one of them given he's become an integral figure in Alan Pardew's side since arriving from Toulouse in January 2013. However, the 24-year-old's representative, Frederic Guerra, has intimated to Eurosport that his client would be willing to leave St James' Park if the right offer came in. "He has only a year and a half on his contract at Newcastle and we are open to all proposals," he explained. Reaction has varied with a majority of fans correctly pointing out that Sissoko signed a six-and-a-half year contract when he joined the Club while others have, as is the case with every mooted departure, condemned Mike Ashley's lack of ambition for driving players to towards the exit door. Our thinking is that Guerra's comments have been lost in translation, as they sometimes are, and interpreted incorrectly as a result. Perhaps he meant to convey that the France international has only served a year-and-a-half on his deal but are still open to offers. And although Sissoko has flattered to deceive in the 56 games he's played for Newcastle it would be a bitter blow to lose a player of his obvious potential.
