2. Toby Alderweireld
The 23-year-old would be a real coup for a club such as Newcastle Unied with Alderweireld putting in continuously impressive performances for Ajax last year when they won the Dutch league. He has managed 18 international caps for Belgium since making his debut in 2009 despite strong competition; namely from Top 4 club captains Vincent Kompany (Manchester City) and Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal). Alderweireld would be a dream signing for Newcastle as the Belgian youngster can play both centre back and right back; last season forming a formidable partnership at the centre of defence with Jan Vertonghen (whose since departed Ajax for Tottenham Hotspur). Young, European and maybe available for a knock-down price (his contract will run out in 18 months come January) Newcastle should pull out all the stops to sign him. Should Vurnon Anita settle well in the coming months he could prove influential in seeing Alderweireld pull on a black-and-white strip.
