Newcastle Interested in Senegal Stiker Papiss Demba Cisse

Alan Pardew has no doubt woke up this morning knowing that the one task he must achieve today is the signing of a new striker before the 11pm transfer window deadline, something he hasn't been able to do since the beginning of the summer. Previous targets Kevin Gamiero and Gervinho who he tried to buy early on moved elsewhere, 3rd choice Mevlut Erdinc couldn't be convinced to leave Paris Saint-Germain and a deal for latest target Modibo Maiga, the one player who does want to move to Tyneside, has stumbled over a difficulty to agree a deal with his French club Sochaux. The Sochaux Chairman yesterday stated that he would only let Maiga go if a deal could be agreed for a replacement but having lost out on the £2 million signing of Max Gradel from Leeds who went to their rivals St. Etienne instead, a deal for Maiga to the North East now looks unlikely. Presumably when a firm NO went out to Newcastle last night for Maiga, Pardew then put the wheels in motion for Plan D (?) which now appears to be German side Freiburg's Senegalese international striker Papiss Demba Cisse. The Daily Mail claim a £10 million offer has been made but already turned down by the German side and they will apparently resist all further offers for the player. 26 year old Cisse, an International teammate of Demba Ba, has knocked in a whopping 32 goals in 51 appearances and interestingly wears no 9 for his club. He has also scored 7 goals in 9 appearances for Senegal and is the goal machine Newcastle supporters know their team desperately needs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itvv7h4d8qI Elsewhere, a season long loan deal for Manchester United's Italian striker Federico Macheda is still alive and what appears to be a 'if nothing else works out we will do this" deal for Belgian international (but of Nigerian descent) Marvin Ogunjimi, who plays for Genk and would be available for around £5 million. The 23 year old has played 83 times for Genk scoring 28 goals.
