Newcastle United versatility man Shane Ferguson has moved to League One side Millwall an emergency 93-day loan. Millwall boss Neil Harris has been targeting a left-winger, and Ferguson is the man he has decided to bring in, with the Northern Irishman likely to joining until the end of November. Ferguson can play at left-back or as a left-winger, and he was even asked to operate as a makeshift centre-back by Steve McClaren in pre-season, and Harris had been keen on take him to The Den - something he has achieved. Interestingly, earlier this summer The Chronicle claimed that Cambridge United were one of a number of Football League clubs chasing Ferguson, but it Millwall is his destination if he does leave Tyneside. Ferguson, capped 18 times by Northern Ireland to date, can play as either a left-back or a left-winger but his slight frame has seen him struggle to cope with the physicality of the Premier League. At 5ft 10in, he is not small but he has failed to add much muscle since he first made his Newcastle debut back in 2009. To date, Ferguson has played 32 times for the Magpies without scoring, and he has enjoyed loan spells at both Birmingham City (twice, in 2012-13 and then 2013-14), as well as at Rangers last season.
