Newcastle Striker Hopes To Better His Goal Tally

Ayoze Perez is looking to improve at NUFC.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly made a £15 million deadline bid for Newcastle's Ayoze Perez but the striker is focused on improving at the Magpies.

The club swiftly confirmed that any link with Spurs or €œanyone else€ was €œtotal rubbish€ and that Perez will be staying put on Tyneside.

The Spanish forward scored seven Premier goals last season after moving from Tenerife for just £1.5 million. Originally signed for the future, Perez broke into Alan Pardew first team set up and made 37 league appearances for the club.

The 22-year-old is hoping to improve this season and continue to develop at Newcastle and described his time at the club as "like a dream".

Speaking to the Shields Gazette, the player said:

€œIt€™s harder because I had a good season last year, and I have to keep going and improve and maybe do better if I can. €œThat€™s what I want to do. €œI did good numbers, but I have to keep working every day and in training. €œI don€™t think about the numbers or to do better than last year €“ just work and do my best for the team. €œI always want to improve so that€™s a good goal. I always want to be better so if I can score more goals, that€™s a good thing for me.€

It seems that Perez is comfortable at St James' park and was not looking to leave the club this transfer window.

He added:

€œI feel fit, I feel comfortable with the team and I€™m happy with the start of the season. €œI have to keep working. My first year was a really good year and I hope this one will be the same or better. €œI€™m still thinking the same €“ like it€™s a dream. In a big game, sometimes I can€™t believe it.€
