Newcastle Target Remy Cabella As Club Prepares For Summer Cull

A slightly unexpected name-check in the Shields Gazette this morning is certain to excite Newcastle supporters after the paper hinted that we will revive our interest in the Montpellier attacking midfielder Remy Cabella this summer.
Cabella was a mooted target in the final throes of the January transfer window as a replacement for Yohan Cabaye following his £20 million move to Paris Saint Germain.
It's understood the 24-year-old is free to leave Stade de la Mosson and we feel he is the perfect candidate to step into the shoes vacated by Cabaye given his form for Montpellier this season in which he scored 14 goals and assisted nine others.
Signing a new playmaker is undoubtedly a priority for the club with Hatem Ben Arfa, Sylvain Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan all understood to be up for sale as we look to generate funds for a major overhaul of the squad after our struggles in the second half of the campaign.
Shola Ameobi will be released after 14-years on the books at St James' Park while out-of-contract Dan Gosling is rumoured to have agreed to join Championship side Bournemouth when he becomes a free agent.
A question mark still hangs over players on the fringes of the first-team squad, including Jonas Gutierrez, Shane Ferguson and Haris Vuckic, all of whom endured unproductive loan spells away from the club last season and we expect them to be moved when the transfer window opens.
