Newcastle Transfer News: Magpies In Shock Talks To Re-Sign Demba Ba

Sky Tyne and wear. The 28-year-old only moved to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window but has been something of a disappointment in West London since, managing just two Premier League goals last season. And now, it looks as though his short spell at Chelsea is about to come to an end with Qatar side Al-Jaish also contacting the Blues over the striker's potential availability. Though Ba hasn't impressed with the Londoners, he did enjoy some tremendous form with Newcastle, scoring 29 goals in 54 games since joining in 2011. He was also the North East club's joint-top goalscorer for last season despite the fact he only played with the Magpies for half of the campaign. Newcastle are also back in for Bafetimbi Gomis. Gomis has been on the Magpies' radar for much of the summer and they agreed a fee with his club Lyon earlier this month, only for the move to stall over agent fees. Newcastle initially pulled out of the deal two weeks ago, and Lyon even opened negotiations with the France international over a new contract. Manager Alan Pardew is looking to bolster his attack this summer and add to his acquisition of Loic Remy, who has arrived on a season-long loan move from Queens Park Rangers.
