The former Liverpool defender's contract is due to expire in 2016 and he could be a shrewd purchase at just £4 million if Newcastle need some further help to their back four. The Danish centre back left Anfield because of constant arguments with Brendan Rodgers and it seems the player needed to restore some of his confidence by returning home. Agger has a high level of Premier League and European experience and would be a solid addition to Newcastle's side especially as they only have Steven Taylor and Mike Williamson (who is widely reported to be going out on loan) as back up for Chancel Mbemba and Fabricio Coloccini.
