Thankfully the defender didn't play like an untamed beast tonight and looks to have learned from his Jefferson Montero madness. The defender looked confident in his role and formed a nice relationship with Florian Thauvin. The pair were domineering down the right channel and as Thauvin cut inside, the Dutchman overlapped successfully, twice being flagged narrowly offside after getting into a promising position. Third time lucky, the Dutchman burst past his French teammate and once more was put through on the right hand side, this time he buried the ball into the net.
