Newcastle's Plight In Numbers - What Exactly Would Relegation Mean?

6. £24 Million - Parachute Payment Magpies Would Receive Next Season

"But parachute payments will see Newcastle United through!" you cry. Well, maybe... Basically the Magpies would receive £24 million next season and, unless the Premier League carries through its plans to restructure the payments from over four years to just three, they would then receive £19.2 million in 2016-17, £19.2 million in 2017-18 and £9.6 million in 2018-19. However, considering they will lose more than £65 million in television rights, the £24 million parachute payment for next season would offset that by less than half - and there's a £41 million shortfall straightaway.
