This weekend has shown how merciless preseason can be, with several big name tight ends being ruled out for varying degrees of time. Redskins TE Niles Paul has been ruled out for the whole season after dislocating his ankle, for starters. Then there's the Eagles' Zach Ertz who requires surgery for a groin tear, though he's expected to be fit for the season, while the Jets' Jace Amaro sprained his shoulder and perhaps biggest of all, Julius Thomas has been ruled out for the rest of preseason with a fractured hand. Tight ends have been in the wars this weekend, proving that preseason is still a dangerous place to be.
