NFL: 5 Players Who Could Have A Sophomore Slump

4. Justin Blackmon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdDLs4DhTw4 Justin Blackmon is a very good wide receiver and I think he'll be star in this league one day. However, this upcoming year will be a setback in my opinion. He had a very good rookie season with 64 catches for 865 yards and 5 touchdowns. This also came from below average quarterbacks throwing him the football. If the Jaguars can find a good quarterback for this offense than Blackmon can be a star immediately. Now there are a few reasons why I think he'll have a sophomore slump. First is his suspension. Blackmon received a four game suspension by the NFL for violating the league€™s substance abuse policy. Obviously that's going to set him back this year considering he'll only play in 12 regular season games. Another reason why he'll have a sophomore slump is because of the quarterback position. Apparently the Jaguars feel confident in moving forward with Blaine Gabbert as the starter. Gabbert is nothing special and has already set this awful franchise back the past two seasons and soon to be a third. If guys like Cecil Shorts, Ace sanders, and Denard Robinson can take some heat off of Blackmon than he can do some damage in the limited amount of games he can play. However, these are very young, unproven players and you can't rely on them to make an instant impact like Blackmon did his rookie season. Once again, I think Blackmon will be a fine player in this league, but the suspension and quarterback play will set him back his 2nd year in the league.
