NFL Draft 2020: 13 Biggest Picks You NEED To Know

11. Outside Linebacker - Isaiah Simmons

Round 1: Pick 8

Clemson's Isaiah Simmons is a physical specimen. Out of high school he was an all-state safety and receiver. After redshirting his freshmen year, he converted to linebacker. During his three college seasons he had lined up at safety, corner, linebacker and defensive end. Establishing himself as the ultimate defensive hybrid, he helped Clemson reach two National Championship games (he missed 2016 because of the redshirt) and won ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award while being a unanimous All-American.

With needs along the O-line, the Arizona Cardinals were not expected to go with a defensive pick in the first round. Simmons was a top-5 rated talent so after the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers went in different directions, he was too good of a value for Arizona to pass up with their 8th overall pick.

The Cardinals ranked last in the entire league in total defense last year and could use about four more Isaiahs. He'll be asked to immediately improve the defense next to returning all-pro CB Patrick Peterson. Look for Simmons to be tasked with covering NFC West rivals such as George Kittle and Cooper Kupp, along with chasing down Russell Wilson in Seattle.
