Newcastle United are actively preparing for life in the Premier League next season despite finding themselves just two points about the relegation zone - with Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Fabricio Agosto believed to be on their transfer list. The 27-year-old stopper is also being tracked by Everton - and he would be available for a relatively-modest £3.6 million during the summer transfer window. Agosto's stock has risen following an impressive 10 clean sheets in 28 La Liga matches this season, and Deportivo could be forced to sell due to their perilous financial situation. Reports in Spanish paper Deportivo Mundo claim that contract negotiations have broken down between the goalkeeper and the the club, meaning he could be sold this summer. The 5ft 11in former Valladolid, Recreativo and Real Betis stopper was capped once at Spain Under-20 level but he has never received a call-up to the senior international squad. Agosto could be deemed as Tim Krul's replacement at Newcastle, with the seven-cap Holland international potentially available for in excess of £10 million. Interestingly, Newcastle already have 29-year-old three-cap Republic of Ireland international stopper Rob Elliot on their books, while 24-year-old Karl Darlow signed from Nottingham Forest last summer only to be loaned back to the East Midlands club for the season. Should Agosto sign for the Magpies, he could therefore find himself competing with at least two other keepers for the first-team position.
