Patrice Evra Leaves Man Utd

The veteran left-back has joined Juventus for £1.2 million.

Patrice Evra has finally completed his move to Juventus, ending his eight-year association with Manchester United, according to the bbc. The Frenchman announced his intentions to move to Italy earlier this month, and the move has now gone through for £1.2 million. Evra had signed a one-year contract extension to stay at Old Trafford for another season back in May, and was expected to deputise for new signing Luke Shaw, who arrived from Southampton this summer. However, he has now left the club, leaving United with just one recognised left-back following the departure of Alexander Buttner last month. Evra made 273 appearances for the Red Devils after moving from Monaco in January 2006, and won five Premier League titles, three League Cups and the Champions League. In October 2011, he was at the centre of a racism row after being abused by former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, who was subsequently banned for eight matches. The Frenchman made his United debut against Manchester City on 14 January, but tasted defeat in his first Manchester derby, with the Citizens winning 3-1. His last appearance for the club came in the 1-1 draw with Southampton on the final day of last season on May 11. Evra follows former colleague Nemanja Vidic to Italy, with Vidic also leaving United this summer to join Inter Milan.
