Premier League: 10 Best Transfers of 2012

5. Robin van Persie (Manchester United, £24 million)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpp9eYOF2IA That goal just doesn't get old. There isn't much unsaid about his history; this player definitely has pedigree. His record at Arsenal speaks for itself, so it was no wonder that van Persie would become the latest player embroiled in an Arsenal transfer saga. Linked heavily with foreign clubs over the summer, such as Juventus, it was United who eventually stumped up the exorbitant fee that Arsenal were asking for, despite the player only having a year left on his contract. Following his incredible season last year in which he finished as league top scorer, having amassed a highly impressive total of 30 league goals, van Persie has continued his run in stunning style. 5 goals and 2 assists in just 7 games suggest that the Dutchman is looking to eclipse last year's total, and if anyone has the quality to do so, he does. His blossoming chemistry with strike partner Wayne Rooney will prove pivotal to not only his, but United's success this season, and Sir Alex Ferguson will be closely watching the fitness of his marquee signing after already suffering from a minor injury scare this season. Rating: 10/10 Controversial move, but instant success.
