Premier League: 10 Best Transfers of 2012

6. Joe Allen (Liverpool, £15 million)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEWnXy8DO7U Following the success of Swansea last season, and in particular the success of their sublime passing game, Brendan Rodgers was quickly snapped up by Liverpool, who brought his Welsh wizard with him. He also suits Liverpool's transfer strategy of late: young, talented British players. The Reds have the youngest squad in the league this year, with an average age of 23 years, and at 22, Allen fits the bill. His pass accuracy currently stands at 92.6%, having made over 530 passes in this campaign already. It's not just short passes either, before the moaning starts. 57 out of 62 long balls he's played have been pinpoint accurate as well. And it's not just in his passing game where Allen excels. He alone has won the ball back 60 times for his team already, more than any other player for any side this year. While definitely one for the future at the age of 22, there is no doubt that he has much to offer already, and has already turned heads in his bid to become a long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard, with the video above showing he can shoot as well. Even though Liverpool haven't been great yet, he has. Rating: 8/10 One to watch.
