When Ryan Bertrand completed a season-long loan move to Southampton from Chelsea in the summer, it wasn't exactly a transfer that filled the back pages. He was seen as a fairly decent left-back with limited quality, hence the Blues being willing to loan him out. Despite this, the 25-year-old has been superb for the Saints so far, thriving under the excellent management of Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman has clearly given Bertrand the license to express himself, and he has played with attacking intent and great confidence in almost every match so far. He has produced endless chances for teammates, and he also scored in the win over QPR. Defensively he has also been very reliable, and that is proven by the fact that Southampton have conceded just five times in their opening nine league games. Not many would have predicted how well Bertrand would have performed, but if his current form continues, he will be very deserving of an England call-up sooner rather than later.
