Premier League Transfers: 10 Ligue 1 Players England Needs

9. Samuel Umtiti - Lyon

France U21 International Samuel Umtiti has been a stalwart in a young Lyon side that challenged for the Ligue 1 title for the first time since they won 7 titles in a row in the 2000s. He is also a big Football Manager favourite, regularly featured in the game as one of the biggest defensive prospects in world football. You may remember him scoring an absolute pearler against Spurs in the Europa League a few years ago, and if you haven't please do, you won't regret it. Umtiti is still only 21-years-old and has bags of experience, so would have plenty of time to adapt to the Premier League. Despite standing only 5'11 tall, Lyon's centre-back more than holds his own in Ligue 1, and is also versatile in that he can play left-back. Arsenal are reported long-term admirers, and he could be the perfect partner for fellow Francophile, Laurent Koscielny, with Per Mertesacker approaching the latter stages of his career.
