Premier League Transfers: 15 Most Successful January Signings
15. Victor Moses - Crystal Palace To Wigan
Fee: £2.5 million, January 2010. Victor Moses career has stalled somewhat recently and he now finds himself warming the bench at Liverpool. But once upon a time he was a very good January buy. In the 2010 January transfer window Wigan bought then 19-year-old Moses for £2.5 million on the back of good displays for then Championship side Crystal Palace. He started slowly at Wigan but came to life in the 2010-11 season after fellow winger Charles NZogbia left the club. Moses was their star performer and played a pivotal role in Wigan staying up again that season. £2.5 million for a player who played a massive role in keeping them in the Premier League and all its riches seems a good deal. At the end of that season Moses signed for European Champions Chelsea for £9 million, a £6.5 million profit for Wigan. Wigans first season without Moses saw them win the FA Cup but also get relegated from the Premier League for the first time in nine years.
