14. Philippe Coutinho - Inter Milan To Liverpool
Fee:£8.5 million, January 2013. One of the best buys in last years January transfer window was Liverpools acquisition of Brazilian Philippe Coutinho. The £8.5 million transfer seemed a gamble at the time for a player who had failed to establish himself in a struggling Inter Milan side. But his performances since that move have proved that he is worth every penny. Usually new players, and particularly ones coming from other countries, take time to settle but Coutinho hit the ground running. The immediate impact of him and fellow January signing Daniel Sturridge saw Liverpool considerably improve in the second half of the 2012/13 season. Coutinho made 12 league starts after signing and contributed with three goals and five assists during those games. The 21-year-old has a bright future in front of him and Liverpool will be the benefiters of that thanks to their January buy last year.
