QPR Transfer News: Kevin Doyle Completes Loan Deal

Irish international striker Kevin Doyle has completed a loan move to QPR, bolstering the Hoops' campaign for the Championship title and promotion back to the Premier League. The 30-year-old former Reading and Cork City striker has had a woeful year in League One, netting a mere 3 times in England's third tier, but the former Premier League hitman has now joined Harry Redknapp's newest "Barmy Army" at Queens Park Rangers. Doyle was a true star at Reading, netting 65 goals in a 4-year stint at the club, including 18 goals per year in his 2 years in the Championship and an impressive 13 strikes in their 2006-07 Premier League campaign. However, he's failed to hit the heights since his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the last 2 years have seen him suffer successive relegations from the Premier League and the Championship. Redknapp had been quoted earlier in the day as being fairly confident a deal will be done in time;
"We are close to doing something with Kevin Doyle, so let's see what happens."
The return to the Championship will be a welcome boost for both the player and his international management duo of Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane €“ with an international against Serbia next on the line for the Republic of Ireland in March, both men will welcome the news that their player is featuring at a higher level.
