QPR Transfer News: Ricardo Carvalho Agrees Loan Switch
Queens Park Rangers have agreed a deal with Real Madrid which could see defender Ricardo Carvalho join on loan for the season.
Queens Park Rangers have agreed a deal with Real Madrid which could see defender Ricardo Carvalho join on loan for the season, according to the BBC. The 34 year old, who spent six seasons with Chelsea between 2004-10, has yet to agree personal terms, but it is believed this part of the deal will be completed within the next 48 hours. The move to capture the players services by manager Mark Hughes comes after an embarrassing 5-0 home defeat to Swansea, and the Welshman has already agreed a £7.5million fee for Michael Dawson from Tottenham Hotspur in a bid to shore up his leaky defence. Although both defenders are yet to complete their moves, this will come as welcome news to worried QPR fans who must have feared what was to come this season after their hammering on the first day of the new season. Carvalho won two successive Premier League titles under fellow countryman Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge in 2005/06, and would also join up with fellow teammate Jose Bosingwa, who was released by Chelsea at the end of last season in spite of playing the full 120 minutes of the clubs Champions League final against Bayern Munich, which the Blues won on penalties. The experience of both players will be a welcome addition at Loftus Road if the deal can indeed be thrashed out, and will provide QPR supporters with fresh hope for the new campaign.
