Ranking Atletico Madrid's 10 Best Strikers From The 21st Century
1. Fernando Torres
The Spaniard is better remembered for his time in the Premier League, but its at Atletico where he enjoyed his breakthrough as a precocious young talent.
He burst onto the scene way back in 2000 at the age of 16 when the Rojiblancos were still in the second tier of the Spanish league, but after the side gained promotion two years later he was a different beast thereafter.
He instantly became the most important member of the squad and was also given the captain's armband when he was only 19. At the time of his departure to Liverpool in 2007, Torres was widely considered one of Spain's hottest properties and left with 91 goals from 244 games.
He returned to the side in 2015 after failed stints at Chelsea and AC Milan and successfully resurrected his legacy. Even though he wasn't the leading star, the Spaniard nonetheless played 160 games and scored another 38 times before heading to Japan in 2018 and then hanging up his boots there the following year.
