Ranking Atletico Madrid's 10 Best Strikers From The 21st Century
2. Radamel Falcao
Like some other strikers on this list, Radamel Falcao too had a short spell at Atletico Madrid but the impact he made in just two years is beyond commendable.
Bought in as a replacement for Sergio Aguero in 2011, the Colombian was coming off the back of another two prolific years with Porto during which he struck 72 times from 87 games, and then replicated his menacing run with the Colchoneros too.
The peerless targetman made 91 appearances and scored a staggering 70 goals in the process, 52 of which came in the league! He was simply the best No.9 at the time.
In his first season, Falcao led his side to Europa League glory, even scoring twice in the finals, before driving them to UEFA Super Cup as well as Copa Del Rey success. He was also the most prolific in La Liga in each of his two seasons behind only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
In 2013, he left for AS Monaco and even after all these years, is said to be in contact with some of his Atletico team-mates, which is another testament to the influence he had on this team.
