Ranking Every Liverpool Transfer Under Jürgen Klopp
14. Marko Grujić
The trouble with gauging Grujić's transfer is that he spent most of his time away from Liverpool. If you judge him by his performances on loan, he's surely a good player. But if you ask what he's offered Liverpool in the last three years, the answer is nothing (or an assist in an EFL Cup match against Tottenham, which is pretty much the same).
His loan spells have been fantastic, and would've granted him a run in the first team at many other clubs. Both at Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin, he made his presence felt in midfield. Cardiff's boss was begging for the Serbian to return for another season. Hertha Berlin's manager was even more flattering, as he claimed the youngster, who registered five goals and an assist last season, was "Hertha Berlin's best midfielder in 20 years."
He will reportedly be sold this season, having only played 14 times for the club. Many would have hoped for Klopp's first ever Liverpool transfer not to end so bitterly. It's a shame that a team which had to settle for the likes of Jay Spearing and Alberto Aquilani a couple of years ago is now so midfield-packed that they must turn down Grujić. Right place, wrong time lad.
