Ranking Every Super Bowl Of The 2010s, From Worst To Best
6. Super Bowl XLV (2011) Green Bay Packers 31-25 Pittsburgh Steelers
Now we’re starting to get into the good ones.
A Super Bowl rife with pre-game hype between two title abundant franchises delivered a new hero in NFL lore, as the Packers, led by third year QB Aaron Rodgers, survived a furious comeback attempt by the Steelers to win their 4th Super Bowl championship and 12th league title overall.
Green Bay continued their tremendous form right off the bat, jumping out at one point to a 21-3 lead before the Steelers pulled a touchdown back just before halftime. The first half was so riveting, in fact, that few could wait for the second to begin - although perhaps that was more due to the Black Eyed Peas and their now infamously inaudible Halftime Show.
Although Pittsburgh eventually pulled their deficit to only 3 points late in the 4th, a Mason Crosby field goal put the Packers up 6 while Steelers veteran Ben Roethlisberger failed to finish his team’s final drive. This allowed the younger Rodgers to run out the clock and claim the title for Green Bay, as well as the game MVP for his triple touchdown performance.
Though seen as what was sure to be the first of many titles for the NFL’s newest superstar, this expectation remarkably wouldn’t quite come to fruition. Still, it was the perfect way for Aaron Rodgers to step out of the shadow of his legendary predecessor, Hall of Fame gunslinger Brett Favre.
