Ranking Every Super Bowl Of The 2010s, From Worst To Best

5. Super Bowl XLVII (2013) Baltimore Ravens 34-31 San Francisco 49ers

This two-nicknamed thriller in New Orleans’ Superdome is highly memorable for several reasons: the first being that it was a head coaching matchup between two brothers in John vs. Jim Harbaugh, adding some familial spice to the greatest gridiron show on the planet.

It was also known going into the game that the “Har-Bowl” would be the last hurrah of the Ravens’ controversial but dominant linebacker Ray Lewis, with the soon-to-be Hall of Famer finishing off a year career positively spattered with defensive accolades.

And of course, there was the third-quarter partial power outage in the stadium which resulted in a 34 minute delay. Prior to this “Blackout” (lending the game another nickname), it was looking like more of an unfortunate blowout on Baltimore’s part, leading the 49ers 28-6 thanks to a kickoff return for a touchdown as the second half began.

After the lights came back on however, the 49ers found new life, much like a reset computer. Colin Kaepernick, years before he took to kneeling during anthems, helped bring the Niners back to within 2 points with his dynamic rushing skills.

The comeback fell just short, as Baltimore ended the game on a crafty intentional safety that gave their opponents no chance to recover. In a Super Bowl refreshingly free of Peyton Manning, Big Ben, or Tom Brady, it was Ravens QB Joe Flacco who took the Lombardi trophy, as well as MVP honours.
