Ranking Newcastle's Transfer Dealings 2014-15 - Outgoings

1. Alan Pardew - Sold For £3.5 Million (To Crystal Palace)

Season Rating: 5.5 (for Newcastle United); 9 (for Crystal Palace) Success Of Sale Rating: 9.5 Alan Pardew may have done wonders at Crystal Palace but his time at Newcastle had gone stale - and the fact Mike Ashley managed to recoup £3.5 million for a bloke who the Toon faithful no longer wanted was impressive. The failure to replace him, not so much... Newcastle fans were urging Ashley to sack Pardew and yet he managed to make £3.5 million by selling him instead. Many people now point to the position Newcastle found themselves in during the second-half of the season for justification as to why Pardew should have remained, but if even a semi-competent head coach had replaced him (i.e. not John Carver), then the Magpies would not have dropped down the table as alarmingly as they did. The sale of the season - even if the consequences of it were grave due to the failure to replace him. Recouping £3.5 million for a manager a large section of the support base wanted rid of is no mean feat, that's for certaim.
