Angel Di Maria may well have made No.1 on this list had it not been for the shock purchase of a certain Colombian striker on transfer deadline day. A British transfer record purchase, Di Maria joined Manchester United on the 27th August for £59 million from Real Madrid. United manager Louis van Gaal had been keen to strengthen in the wide areas with Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia ineffectual and made one of the biggest signings of the summer when he landed the Argentinian at Old Trafford. Di Maria was in awesome form last season, scoring four goals for Real more than Uniteds entire midfield mustered between themselves in 2013-14 while no player created more assists in La Liga than the 26-year-olds 17. United badly needed an injection of creativity to their midfield this summer following some laborious performances last season and Di Maria will add a touch of magic to their attacking lines, and is every inch a world class player.
