Roma Hope To End Iker Casillas Love Affair With Real Madrid
The Spaniard is set to be replaced by David De Gea...
Iker Casillas could be finally be on his way out of Madrid this summer with reports suggesting the goalkeeper is attracting interest from AS Roma. The Spanish international has been at his childhood club for the whole of his career so far, but the newly appointed Real Madrid head coach, Rafa Benitez, is set to drop him for the expected arrival of Manchester United keeper David De Gea. In a report by The Mirror, it is claimed that the Italian side are in the process of making contact with Casillas. However, any move for the most capped Spanish star would have to burst the bank, with the player who has captained World Cup, European Championship and Champions League winning teams reportedly earning 3million-a-year, with two years remaining on his lucrative deal. Casillas will have to consider that a move away from the capital may have an impact on the future of his international career, with the 34-year-old likely to be replaced by De Gea again if his move to Madrid can be completed before the European Championships next year. The Italian club though will be hoping that the offer of Champions League football and guaranteed first team action will be enough to tempt the shot-stopper away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
