Sport's 10 Most Incredible Winning Streaks

3. Martina Navratilova (1984)

Navratilova is arguably the best tennis player that has ever lived. She holds the record for the most consecutive victories in WTA history. The Czechoslovak-born player won a staggering 74 consecutive matches in one tennis season, 41 of which were WTA matches.

Her incredible run lasted until 6 December, when it was ended by Pam Shriver at the US Open. It is far from the only tennis record Navratilova holds. She is also the only player asides Serena Williams in the Open Era to win six major singles crowns without losing a set.

Across singles and doubles matches, she has won 59 major titles, a record for the most Grand Slam titles won by any one player. Those are just some of the records Navratilova holds, confirming her as one of tennis' greatest ever players.
