Sports Personality Of The Year 2013: Ranking The Big Contenders

9. AP McCoy

Ap Mccoy Champion jockey Tony McCoy is no stranger to this shortlist, having won the accolade in 2010 following his first win in the Grand National. The Northern Irishman won his 4000th career race on Mountain Tunes this month in Towcester and has been crowned jockey of the year a whopping 18 times, holding the title for an even more staggering 900 plus weeks. The 39 year old is the only Jockey to have won the award and the only nominee to have had any previous success with the award. Should he win again, he would become only fourth person to do so, following Formula 1 drivers Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill, and the late boxer Henry Cooper. He may not be in the running as a favorite to receive the trophy, but you could get very good odds for this dark horse as an outsider to win again following his superb year in 2013.
