Spurs 0-1 Crystal Palace - 6 Things We Learned

Palace march on to the Quarter Finals.

On Saturday February 21st, Alan Pardew took his horribly out-of-sorts Palace side across London to face Mauricio Pochettino's in-form, title contenders for their FA Cup fifth round clash. The winner would claim their place in the quarter final draw. Despite Palace's woes in the league this year, their performances in the FA Cup had been pretty good and they would be looking to extend their run of Premier League scalps by claiming Spurs'. Palace had beaten Southampton and Stoke in the previous two rounds. Spurs have been in scintillating form this year and their winning run had extended to seven games before they were held to a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina. Spurs' previous two ties in the competition were against Leicester and Colchester. The previous meeting between the sides at Selhurst Park a month ago ended with Spurs beating Palace 3-1. Palace took the lead but couldn't hold on and were eventually pegged back by Harry Kane, before Dele Alli and Nacer Chadli both scored late wonder goals to secure the win for the North Londoners. Team News: Palace's recent injury worries have started to clear and they welcomed Yannick Bolasie back to their match day squad after two months out. Spurs' would be without their captain and vice-captain as Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen both missed out through injury.
