Spurs Transfers: 10 DREAM Signings Tim Sherwood Could Make
6. Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid)
Though they splurged £100 million on new recruits following the world-record sale of Gareth Bale last summer, Tottenham haven't quite been able to replace the Welsh winger. Bale was the crux of the Spurs side last season and the engine that drove them forward and they have definitely struggled without him, while his 'replacement' - Erik Lamela - has flopped. The current Tottenham team has zero star quality in midfield and look more like an expensively-assembled band of pretenders than the real deal. Someone like Angel Di Maria could give them that star quality, and the Real Madrid wide man would be another dream signing if a last-gasp deal were somehow pulled off this week. A move isn't completely outside the realms of possibility. Di Maria is said to be unsettled at the Bernabeu and unhappy at being substituted so often. Earlier this month, after being subbed off yet again, the winger grabbed his crotch in an angry show of dissent to his manager, though has denied this gesture was aimed at Carlo Ancelotti. Still worth a bid though.
