Spurs Transfers: 5 Attacking Midfielders That Can Replace Gareth Bale

4. Julian Draxler (Schalke 04)

Schalke 04€™s attacking midfielder Julian Draxler has certainly been in the news recently with a move to Arsenal supposedly on the cards, but who€™s to say that Arsenal€™s North London rivals can€™t steal in? Speculation suggests that Arsene Wenger plans to convert Draxler into a striker, well that might not be something that the player fancies. You would expect that Tim Sherwood would be prepared to utilize the player as he is, and let€™s be honest he is still one hell of a player. Sherwood would certainly be attracted to the German€™s ability to play in a number of different positions. However, I think we sometimes don€™t see the best from players by using them in too many different roles. Although, Draxler can be used in a number of different positions, he is arguably best as an attacking left winger; it won€™t be lost on Spurs fans that this was Gareth Bale€™s favoured role, so the comparisons would certainly start if he were to end up at White Hart Lane. This season the player has certainly impressed in the Bundesliga with 1.8 shots, 1 key pass and an incredible 5.1 dribbles per match, this has resulted in one goal and four assists from his 14 league appearances leading to an average rating of 7.76; his Champions League form has also been something to witness with 1.5 shots, 1.5 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per match, which has resulted in three goals and one assist. The player has also gone on to receive an average rating of 7.29 for his performances in Europe.
