Despite spending several months involved in a three-horse race for the Premier League crown, Tottenham's 2018/19 ultimately fizzled out a bit on a domestic level; Mauricio Pochettino's men ultimately finishing fourth in the PL standings as Chelsea nabbed third place.

Even though their title challenge may have faltered, there was still clearly a whole lot of plus points to take away from Spurs' 18/19 campaign, particularly the fact that the club got to their first ever Champions League final.

When looking ahead to the impending 2019/20 season, then, Pochettino's side isn't exactly in need of a complete overhaul. Already, Spurs have a foundation and squad that could easily find themselves once again in and around the title hunt as the season goes on.

But the big question, of course, is just which players are out there and available who could give Tottenham that extra push to build on the momentum of last season's efforts.

That's what we're looking to explore with this particular feature, as we look at potential signings who could add to the quality already assembled in Poch's squad and hopefully bring some exciting, successful football to the ridiculously impressive Tottenham Hotspur Stadium throughout the 19/20 season.

5. Max Aarons (Norwich)

One of the hottest rising stars in English football right now is Norwich City's Max Aarons.

A right-back known for his energy and willingness to get forward, the 19-year-old shares many of the same attributes that former Spurs full-back Kyle Walker brought to Mauricio Pochettino's side before making his big-money move to Manchester City.

With Spurs having sold Kieran Trippier this summer, that leaves Spurs looking extremely short in the right-back position right now.

In fact, going into the 2019/2020 campaign and young Kyle Walker-Peters is the only fit right-back available to Pochettino - Serge Aurier is recovering from hand surgery, while stand-in RB Juan Foythe is set for a spell on the sidelines after injuring his achilles in the Audi Cup final against Bayern Munch.

Simply put, Spurs need to bring in some right-sided defensive cover before the transfer window slams shut. And in Max Aarons, that's a player who perfectly fits Spurs' remit for exciting young talent.

Having signed a five-year contract earlier this year, however, Spurs might have to offer a figure in the £20 million region to stand any chance of bringing the player to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
