3. Joao Moutinho (Porto)
Who is he? Moutinho is a long-term Spurs target who can operate pretty much anywhere across the midfield, but is predominantly a creative holding midfielder. He is an established Portuguese international and a genuinely world-class player who has worked with Andre Villas-Boas before, in the coach's time at Porto. How would he fit in? He could fit in alongside Sandro in a defensive midfield duo, with Sandro as the tough-tackling midfield marshal and Moutinho as the stylish creative player who brings the attacking players in to play once Sandro has won possession. This would allow Moussa Dembele to push up and be a part of the trio that plays behind a lone striker. Moutinho is the one long-term target that Spurs should not give up on. He is a fantastic player who would be great for them and the kind of player who could definitely aid them in stepping up a level.
