4. Toby Alderweireld (Ajax)
Who is he? Toby Alderweireld is a Belgian central defender who can also play at right back. Currently plying his trade at Ajax, where he was formerly the defensive partner of Spurs star and international counterpart Jan Vertonghen, he is a Belgian international who is physically very strong and very good at playing long balls forward.
How would he fit in? He could replace the ageing William Gallas in the squad and re-establish his defensive partnership with Vertonghen, playing on the right side of a central defensive duo, with Vertonghen on the left. He could also provide ample cover at right back for first choice Kyle Walker. Whether or not he'd walk straight in to the first team when Younes Kaboul is fully fit is another matter for discussion, but he would be an excellent player to have in the squad and we already know he has a good understanding with Vertonghen.
