3. Miralem Pjanic

With Clint Dempsey completing his move to the Seattle Sounders this week, Tottenham could use a new attacking midfielder. While Spurs have just signed FC Twente's Nacer Chadli this summer, he is expected to fill a position on the flanks rather than in attacking midfield and thus there is scope for a bid for Miralem Pjanic. The Roma star is the subject of a
£20 million interest from the Lilywhites and has been watched extensively by the club's scouts recently. The 23-year-old playmaker could be a replacement for Dempsey though he could also be viewed as a replacement for Luka Modric also, with the Londoner's lacking that creative sparkle since the Croatian's departure last summer, despite having signed Lewis Holtby. Pjanic, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham's derby rivals Arsenal, would provide the club with more attacking edge this season and would add that touch of class to Villas-Boas' midfield.
